How to become an Ensemble Member:
To join the Ensemble, you must audition and be accepted into the program. New Members are accepted each September.
The Ensemble Program consists of three levels:
- New Member
- Apprentice Member
- Principal Member
When you are first accepted, you will be considered a New Member. Upon completion of a mainstage show, you may become an Apprentice. One year later, upon completion of a second mainstage show, you are eligible to become a Principal.
Each level brings additional benefits. Advancement in the program is subject the discretion of the staff.
As an Ensemble Member, you are required to:
- Attend full Ensemble meeting with parent/guardian in September.
- Attend individual meetings in September. The meetings are designed to map out the goals and requirements for each individual Ensemble member, and how they will set about accomplishing them. This meeting also requires the presence of a parent/guardian.
- Audition for at least one mainstage production a year.
- Commit to at least one of the following:
- Individual Voice Lessons (with Jim or another voice teacher)
- Outside Dance Classes (Broadway Dance, Steps, etc.)
- Private Coaching for Voice and Diction
- Education Classes
- Any musical theater-related outside classes as approved by TADA!.
As an Ensemble Member, you can enjoy the following benefits:
- Free Advanced Dance, Music Theory, Voice/Diction, Movement for Actors, and Acting classes throughout the rehearsal and performance process.
- The ability to take any additional TADA! Education class for free.
- Opportunities to attend professional theatrical performances for free or with a significant discount.
- Panels with theater professionals about the theater business.
- Financial Aid available for approved individual voice lessons, outside dance, or acting classes.
- Financial Aid available for transportation.
- Access to OPTIONS Center for Educational and Career Choice programs for academic tutoring and college preparation.
a. Including a "College Night" at TADA! for 11th and 12th graders
b. PSAT and SAT preparatory classes
c. Financial Aid workshops
- Access to high school, college, and professional audition preparation.
- Access to academic tutoring.
- Access to TADA!'s Reference Library including:
a. College and financial aid guides
b. Books on career opportunities in theater
c. Plays, scripts, scenes and monologues.
- Opportunity to audition for mainstage productions.
- Opportunity to be invited to important events such as the Benefit and Barnes and Noble.
- Internships at professional theaters or at TADA! including:
a. Production Asst.
b. Director's and/or Choreographer's Assistant
c. Costume Designer and/or Wardrobe Assistant
- A "homework table" during rehearsals with adult volunteer assistance.
AND LAST, BUT NOT LEAST…
- A place to hang out, feel safe, and have fun!
Remember! An Ensemble member has the option to become a non-active member in September of each school year.
