Perusal and Rental Instructions

Perusal Copies:

Organizations may sample up to three different plays or musicals at one time. Perusal materials include one script and selections from the score for each show chosen. Reproduction of any kind of either the scripts or scores is strictly prohibited. Perusal copies are for the sole purpose of choosing the appropriate script for your group-plays and musicals may not be performed until a Letter of Agreement has been secured from TADA!.

Ordering Perusal Copies:

Print and fill out the Script Perusal Form. There is a one-time, non-refundable fee of $10.00 for each script which includes one way postage. TADA! must receive this fee before we send your order. Audio CDs/files of some productions are available for perusal at a cost of $5.00. Once a script has been decided upon, additional scripts and materials must be rented. Unwanted materials must be returned within 30 days of the original order.

Renting a Musical/Play:

Once you have decided on a musical or play to rent, please fill out the Script Licensing Form and send it with your payment to TADA! via mail, e-mail or fax. Please direct all inquiries or orders to the following:

Royalty and Rental Payment:

The royalty fee for each musical production is $60 and a $40 charge for each performance. The royalty fee for each play is $30 with a $20 charge for each performance. Scripts are $5 for each script and $15 per piano/vocal score. Royalty fees must be received at least four weeks prior to the first performance. Rental fees must be received within two weeks of receipt of materials. TADA! reserves the right to revoke any Royalty Agreement due to failure to pay on time.

Royalties, Rentals, and Copyrights:

Royalties: A royalty is a payment made to a publisher, author and/or composer for the permission to use their work. Organizations interested in performing a TADA! musicals or plays must secure a Letter of Agreement. Royalty Agreements are authorized by written contract only. TADA! does not grant oral approvals. A Royalty Agreement must be secured four weeks before the first scheduled rehearsal.

Royalty Eligibility: All royalties quoted in this catalog are for productions by educational groups and amateur theater organizations. Professional, equity, television, cable, radio and film producers must contact TADA! for individual information. Groups wishing to use our materials in a contest or festival are required to receive written permission from us four months in advance of the first performance date.

Rental Material: Once a Royalty Agreement has been obtained, performing groups are required to rent materials for rehearsals and performances of the production. Organizations performing a musical are only required to rent the orchestral parts they commit to use in their band or musical during each rehearsal or performance.

Copyright Regulations: Once a Royalty Agreement has been secured, producers must adhere to the following:

  • no alterations may be made to the title of the musical or play;
  • changing the text of the musical or play in any way is strictly prohibited;
  • publisher's materials may not be reproduced without written permission;
  • programs, flyers and any other forms of advertisement must include proper authorship and other credits specified in individual contracts;
  • the program must include the following statement: "Produced by special arrangement with TADA!, Janine Nina Trevens, Executive & Artistic Director."

All of these conditions are protected under federal copyright law Title 17, United States Code Section 106. All rights will be strictly enforced.

Restrictions: TADA! reserves the right to withdraw a Royalty Agreement without notice. The availability of the plays and musicals listed within this catalog may be restricted due to specific geographic locations. Video and audio recording of any kind, without written permission, is strictly prohibited. TADA! has sole authorization to quote or receive royalties and rental payments for our plays and musicals.
