AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Act! Sing! And Dance! at your own school!

Kids can walk down the hall after the school day is done and participate in musical theater and drama right at their own school or community center!

Through musical theater, dance, drama or music workshops--led by caring, highly skilled teaching artists--TADA! provides students with the opportunity to thrive both on stage or in life. Personal and creative growth take place in a structured and supportive environment where ensemble methods are taught to encourage cooperation. TADA! classes provide students with a forum for creative and emotional expression as well as a chance to develop concentration, discipline, focus, public speaking ability and self-esteem.

Students learn the necessity of teamwork as they put together an ensemble performance piece involving dance steps, songs and scenes. These workshops can improve the group or classroom dynamic by both challenging overachievers and instilling confidence in underachievers. The confidence, motivation and public speaking ability gained by students often carries over into their academic work and other areas of their lives.

TADA! programs are taught by professional artists with extensive experience in music, theater, dance and education. All offerings are age appropriate as we have worked with pre-school children to high school seniors. TADA! has three unique after school programs which can be tailored to the specific needs of your school and community.

1) MUSICAL THEATER SKILLS BUILDING

Under the guidance of two teaching artists (a music director and a director/choreographer), students learn the music, dance and theater skills needed to become competent musical theater actors. Music is drawn from TADA!'s repertoire of over 15 original musicals which were written expressly for performance by children.

Two Teaching artists (Music director and director/choreographer)

Up to 20 students per class

COST: $275 per 2-hour class session
$250 per 1 1/2-hour class session

2) MINI-MUSICAL BUILDING

For schools interested in a more in-depth residency program, TADA! offers a two-part creation and production workshop. Under the guidance of professional writers and directors, students create a mini-musical through improvisation and using musical numbers from TADA!'s repertoire and appropriate Broadway songs. During the second stage of the workshop, students rehearse and perform the piece.

This format may incorporate your school's academic curriculum or allow students to explore topics important in their lives. Past scripts have centered on topics as varied as immigration, teamwork, and drug prevention.

3) DRAMA WORKSHOPS

These workshops focus on the skills of the non-musical actor. Acting games, improvisation and scene development are used to prepare a presentation for family and schoolmates. Students explore ensemble work, develop theater skills and create characters as they work with topics as varied as world cultures, comedy, immigration and conflict resolution.
