ANNOUNCING: OPEN AUDITIONS FOR THE RESIDENT YOUTH ENSEMBLE
TADA! Youth Theater is happy to announce that we will be holding open auditions for the Resident Youth Ensemble program in October of 2014. We are excited to welcome new members into our youth development and theater training program this year. There's never been a better time to join the Ensemble - this fall will mark the beginning of our celebrations for TADA!'s 30th anniversary!
To be eligible to audition you must be between 8 and 18 years of age and have a passion for performance. Please read the Ensemble FAQ carefully and make sure the program is the right fit for you. The Ensemble is completely free of charge, but does involve a significant time commitment at various times throughout the year. If accepted into the program, you'll be able to stay a member until you graduate high school. If you are not accepted this year, you are always invited to audition again the next time around. Don't be discouraged, many of our Ensemble Members auditioned more than once before joining the program.
The Ensemble is for kids and teens who like to perform on stage with friends and who are looking for a positive community to help make growing up easier. The TADA! Ensemble is about forming a family with like-minded people and making great musical theater. It's about letting kids be kids and providing exciting performance opportunities. We welcome kids who are serious about pursuing theater professionally - some of our Ensemble Members have performed or are currently performing on Broadway in shows like The Lion King, Matilda, and Kinky Boots, and our Alumni include professional actors and personalities such as Josh Peck (The Wackness, Nickelodeon's "Drake & Josh" and Drillbit Taylor), Kerry Washington (Scandal, Lakeview Terrace, I Think I Love My Wife, The Last King of Scotland), Mizuo Peck (Night at the Museum), Ricki Lake (The Business of Being Born, "Ricki Lake" show), Rap artist Azealia Banks, and Jordan Peele (Key & Peele, MadTV). However, the Ensemble is just as much for kids who have no intention of pursuing a professional career in entertainment and just want to be involved in our community and youth development activities.
To audition, you must sign up for one of the following open audition dates by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling us at 212-252-1619 ext. 132:

- Saturday, October 18th, from 12:00pm to 1:30pm
- Saturday, October 18th, from 2:00pm to 3:30pm
Each candidate must be available for the full time. Our auditions take the form of a group workshop, with all auditionees together in the room learning a song and a simple dance, then given an opportunity to perform these in small groups for our artistic staff. You don't need to prepare anything before the audition, and you don't need to bring a headshot or resume. You and a parent will need to fill out a short form with basic contact and demographic information.
If we would like to consider you for the Ensemble after seeing you at the open audition, you'll be invited to participate in the callback weekend. During the course of the callback weekend we'll be able to push you a little further with more singing and dancing. You'll also get a chance to show off your acting talents.
The callback weekend is Saturday, October 25th and Sunday, October 26th, 12:00pm to 5:00pm each day. You must be albe to attend both days! After the callbacks, you'll receive a call from TADA! staff to tell you if you have been accepted into the program or to be invited to audition again next year.
If you have any questions about the audition process, please e-mail us at email@example.com.
